Shawls have been part of Indian fashion for quite some time now. This is what has led to the introduction of various brands that incorporate various designs and colors. It is up to the buyers to choose the brand that best works for them else frustration will prevail. All in all, care has to be taken when using the shawls. There is nothing as frustrating as seeing the favorite Pashmina shawls get ruined within a short period of time. This is what calls for the need to learn a few tips to avoid the undesired damage to the lovely shawls.

The first thing that one has to consider is to do all shawl washing using hands. The advancements in technology have simplified things and people are no longer confined to the old school methods of doing things. The use of the washing machine has been a cause of clothes damage. This is because there is no better washing machine than the human hands. When dealing with the shawls, it is advised to always wash them using the hands. This will help prevent the twists and turns that go on in the washing machines hence avoid the wearing off. This is by far the best method that one can use to take care of the Pashmina.

Secondly, it is highly advised against wringing or twisting the shawls. This is a common occurrence after washing and sometimes when storing them. This has been a major contributor to damaging the shawls. When one twists the shawls, the weak fabric that gives it the elegance is loosened or some strands tear. This leads to the overall tarnishing of the shawls appearance thereby leading to their seemingly old look. This is something that can be avoided by cleaning them softly and avoiding their twisting. It will ensure that they last for a considerable period of time. Wrinkles on the fabric result from the twisting.

When it comes to washing of the shawls, it is advised to separate the colored ones from the light ones. Most of the colored shawls bleed during washing. The bleeding can either be intense or light depending on the colors or the type of detergents that one is using. When they are mixed together, chances are that the bleeding shawls will stain the light ones. This can lead to the tarnishing of the great designs and the exceptional colors in other clothes. To avoid the frustration that may result from this, it is advised to always separate the colored scarves from the white ones. In addition to that, they should be dried on different lines.

Finally, the shawls should be air dried. The main reason why the exceptional colors tend to fade is due to the use of the drier or hanging the shawls directly in the sun to dry. This leads to direct exposure of heat that leads to ruin of the bright colors. To avoid this problem, drying has to be done under a shade away from direct sunlight.
